The best spots along the canals of the Sarrebourg region

In Sarrebourg Moselle Sud, the water stretches as far as the eye can see, with the Sarre and Marne au Rhin canals running through the area, offering a natural route for contemplating the expanses of water and the diversity of the landscape, all set in unspoilt countryside. Along the way, you'll be amazed by the remarkable heritage that blends into the landscape, offering unbeatable views of the Pays des Etangs and its canals.

The large lock at Réchicourt-Le-Château

Tucked away in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park, a lovely walk invites you to admire the Grande Ecluse at Réchicourt-Le-Château and to understand the work that man has done to enable river navigation. This large lock, built between 1962 and 1965, replaces 6 locks on the Marne-Rhine canal. An impressive structure, almost 16 metres high, the Grande Ecluse offers a magnificent view of the Réchicourt ponds and the canal.

Don't hesitate to take a stroll around the Grande Ecluse, as there are several signposted footpaths starting from the Arboretum, just a stone's throw from the Grande Ecluse.

The junction of the Canal de la Sarre and the Canal de la Marne au Rhin

The Sarre Canal begins at Gondrexange, where it meets the Marne-Rhine Canal. Here, the water stretches as far as the eye can see, offering unique natural spaces and a remarkable range of colours. An important meeting point for both shipping and cycling enthusiasts, whether for day trips or itineraries, this junction allows you to pass from one canal to the other. Make the most of this unique spot, offering peaceful, accessible walks and, above all, a view that's unique in the Moselle!

Don't hesitate to take a trip around the "little pond" at Gondrexange. A short loop will take you across the footbridge, around the pond and to Gondrexange, a small village on the banks of the river in Lorraine.

Etang du Stock and the three bridges area

The Etang du Stock is the second largest artificial lake in Lorraine. It is a popular destination for tourist and leisure activities such as swimming, fishing and sailing. Experience an unforgettable moment as the sun sets. The water takes on iridescent reflections. By day, take a stroll through the three bridges area, which, as its name suggests, is characterised by the presence of three bridges spanning the Sarre canal. If you're a nature lover, you'll be able to spot numerous species of birds, both sedentary and migrating. If you're a keen walker, there are two routes (each about 8km long) through the lake, one to the west from Rhodes and the other to the east from Langatte.
