This violence can be found in the description of despondency and revolt, as well as in the paroxysms of the finale of Gustav Mahler's 6th Symphony. In this powerful work, written in a single draft and premiered the following February 1 in Moscow under the baton of Nicolai Rubinstein, we feel the full weight of the "fatum", which makes it perhaps even more pathetic than the famous 6th Symphony of the same name.
