The very special architectural layout of Saint Mark's Basilica led composers of the time to adapt to its acoustics and to compose works with several choirs responding to each other from one gallery of the building to the other. This gave rise to a fascinating practice of spatialisation, with constant stereophonic effects immersing the audience in shimmering, spellbinding works. The auditorium of Saint Ulrich is certainly nothing like the Venetian sanctuary, except that the layout of its Renaissance organ makes it possible to fully engage in this dialogue with the brass instruments in the gallery.
