Immerse yourself in a nature haven

Heading to the “Pays des étangs”, here outside the little village of Rhodes, the Domaine des Bachats is awaiting you. This farm provides various types of accommodation depending on your wishes and the length of your stay. For those who want to take their time, you will find four holiday cottages and guest rooms. For the adventurers, you can even sleep on a bed of straw!

Jean-Bernard, owner of the farm, is devoted to the breeding of sheep and the production of cereals. The farm also owns donkeys and two cows from the Vosges mountains. At the farm, apple juice is produced, and for those who choose the bed and breakfast experience, jams are made on site.

If you are looking for space, you will get some. The Domaine has a 5 acres park, perfect for letting go.

Are you not into lazing around? Take a walk starting from the parish church of Rhodes to get rid of the tiredness of your journey. You will discover the forest and the Raeti peninsula, also known as “cornée de Rhètes”.

At dinner, enjoy a cosy atmosphere with a view on the pond from the panoramic terrace of the restaurant "Les Paquis". There you can enjoy a delicious Vosges salad or a board with cold cuts and cheese. A great way to start your stay!

Day 1 – Recharge your batteries in nature

Does a stay at the farm give you the urge to get your hands dirty? After a good night’s sleep, become a farmer for a day at the “Contrée des minis” educational farm in Hilbesheim. This activity is meant for children over 6 years old as well as adults. One will explain to you how an educational farm works, you will participate in feeding the animals and you will carry out an activity according to the needs of the farm.

All the effort you have put in has left you hungry for more. Take the opportunity to stop at the "De Mes Terres" shop in Sarrebourg. In this farm shop you will find everything you need to prepare your picnic – homemade bread, cold cuts and cheese from the surrounding farms.

You can enjoy it by the water, heading not far from there, on foot or by bike, to Étang Lévêque where there is a basketball court, beach volleyball, a supervised beach in summer, a bike path, and playgrounds for children. Plenty to spend a beautiful nature-filled afternoon in the heart of Sarrebourg !

In the evening, taste the gastronomic wonders of Bruno Poiré in the Michelin-starred restaurant “Chez Michèle” in Languimberg. This is a place where freshness and good taste of authentic products are favored.

Day 2 – Let yourself be amazed by colors and stories

Visit the village of Guermange, 10 kilometers from Rhodes. This one will surprise you. Explore the St Peter and St Paul church. Its interior walls are entirely covered with frescoes depicting religious scenes. They are highlighted by a sound and light show. It is a real encyclopedia of religious and folk history! Who would ever imagine such a thing in a village of less than 100 souls?

Afterwards, arouse your curiosity by visiting the Maison du Clément in Belles-Forêts, in the Lorraine Regional Natural Park. This is the Museum of Architectural Heritage of the Pays des Etangs. It Is located in this authentic half-timbered house dating back to 1750, typical of rural architecture.

End up your stay in Sarrebourg, the main town. Do not forget to visit the Parcours Chagall, consisting of the Chapelle des Cordeliers and its Museum.

Once in the Chapelle des Cordeliers, let yourself be impressed by Chagall’s majestic stained-glass window “La Paix”, the largest stained-glass window ever created by the artist, standing 12 metres high. Then go to the Museum to discover the historical and archaeological treasures found in the area.
