Soldiers who perished during the Battle of Abreschviller on August 21st 1914 are buried in this National Necropolis of World War One. 464 French soldiers (77 unknown victims and 2 ossuaries) and 370 German soldiers (117 unknown victims and 1 ossuary) lay here. After the battle, inhabitants were asked to buried the victims temporarily. After the war, the bodies were identified and buried in the necropolis.
